The Bugle 1816 is a round, natural-finish wood-cased pencil from Musgrave Pencil Company of Shelbyville, Tennessee, made in the USA and coated in a clear glossy lacquer that shows the wood grain, with a white "Bugle 1816" imprint flanked by bugle motifs. It has an HB (#2) writing core and no eraser or ferrule, and is positioned as a lightweight school and everyday writing pencil. Reviewers note it sharpens cleanly without point breakage, though some find the firm HB core a little scratchy.
