ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Pencil King (model 7900) is a round, eraser-tipped wood-cased graphite pencil from the Musgrave Pencil Company, made in Shelbyville, Tennessee. It is fitted with a #1 graphite core and finished in a deep purple barrel with gold foil and a three-knurled Cly-Del ferrule, and is sold in 12-pencil tubes. It is a modern heritage release: Musgrave revived the design from a 1940s–early-1950s steel printing die, originally produced by Cincinnati's Greg and Sons, that the company rediscovered in its warehouse.
This specimen: Pencil King in grade #1.
