ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
Kita-Boshi's "Zero Waste" Tsunagu (model ZW4) is a wood-cased graphite writing pencil sold in packs of four, with ends shaped so that once a pencil becomes too short to hold you can glue it onto a fresh one with wood glue and carry on, using the wood and lead down to almost nothing. It is offered in two grades, B and 2B, with each pencil about 12 cm long. Made in Japan by Kita-Boshi Pencil Co. of Tokyo, it forms part of the company's wider waste-reduction and pencil-recycling programme.
