ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Nataraj 621 — now sold as "621 Be Bold" — is the iconic red-barrel, black-striped HB writing pencil made by Hindustan Pencils in Mumbai, India, and one of the best-known pencils in the country. It pairs a bonded HB graphite lead, made for smooth, dark everyday writing, with a soft, easy-sharpening hexagonal wood casing and a plain capped (non-eraser) end, and is sold only in HB grade. Aimed at general school, home and office writing, it ships unsharpened; a separate eraser-tipped "621 Ruby" variant exists as its own product. This specimen: 621 in grade HB.
