ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The STABILO Swano is Schwan-Stabilo's everyday lacquered wood-cased graphite pencil, sold mainly in HB (also offered in H and 2H), with a hexagonal barrel and a 2.2 mm break-resistant glued lead, suited to writing, drawing, sketching and hatching. The headline versions are eraser-tipped: the standard red-shaft 4906 and the pastel-shaft Swano Pastel 4908, plus fluorescent (4907) and yellow (4909) variants; a plain non-eraser Swano (4905) is also sold. The Swano name dates back to a children's pencil range Schwan introduced in the 1930s and remains a current product.
