ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
A wood-cased graphite drawing pencil (the "Victoria No. 804") made in England by George Rowney & Co. Ltd., the London artists'-materials firm established in the early 1830s that merged with the Daler Board Company in 1983 to form Daler-Rowney. Surviving examples are finished in orange with silver "Victoria" lettering and were sold as drawing pencils in a range of graphite grades including HB, B and 4B. It is a vintage, now-discontinued line, with documented specimens dating to the early-to-mid 20th century.
This specimen: Victoria in grade 4B.
