ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Venus Drawing 3800 was a professional wood-cased drawing pencil made in the USA by the American Lead Pencil Company (later absorbed by Faber-Castell in the early 1970s) and aimed at artists and architects. It was offered in a full 17-degree range from 6B to 9H; the 3800 itself was untipped, while eraser-tipped versions were sold under the 3820 (11 degrees) and oversized-tip 3828 (8 degrees) numbers. Finished in the brand's signature green two-tone "crackle" lacquer with a gold imprint, it was for decades the most popular high-end American drawing pencil and is now discontinued.
This specimen: Drawing 3800 in grade 6B.
