HOUSE OF GRAPHITE

The Pentel Mark Sheet Pencil is a hexagonal Japanese wood-cased pencil, finished in dark blue with silver lettering, made specifically for filling in OCR/OMR test answer ("mark") sheets. It was sold in H, HB and B grades (the HB capped orange, the B capped red) and was praised by reviewers for laying down an unusually dark, rich, smooth and yet erasable line. Pentel has since stopped producing wood-cased pencils, so the wooden Mark Sheet pencil is now discontinued and collectible, although Pentel continues to make Mark Sheet mechanical pencils, leads and erasers.
