ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Staedtler Noris eco 180 (originally sold simply as the Wopex) is a graphite pencil whose barrel is not solid wood but WOPEX, a co-extruded wood-polymer composite that Staedtler describes as roughly 70% wood from PEFC-certified German forests bonded around the lead, giving high break-resistance and a soft, non-slip surface in a solvent-free production process. It is a hexagonal, eraser-free pencil offered in five degrees from 2B through HB to 2H and is marketed for general writing, drawing and sketching. Made in Germany, it is a current product; an eraser-tipped sibling is sold separately as the Noris eco 182 30.
