ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The uni NanoDia is a wood-cased handwriting (kakikata) pencil for elementary-school children, marketed by Mitsubishi as having a graphite core blended with nano-diamond particles for a darker, crisper line. It is offered in two grades, B and 2B, and is hexagonal with plain, unfinished ends (no eraser ferrule), made in Japan. Per a contemporary review (Pencil Talk), the NanoDia lead technology was introduced in 2008 (mechanical-pencil leads first), with the woodcase pencil following around 2010.
