HOUSE OF GRAPHITE

The Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100 is a premium wood-cased drawing pencil made in Germany, sold in 24 grades from a soft 12B to a hard 10H. It uses a break-resistant, super-bonded graphite lead in a blue hexagonal barrel, with the lead diameter graded to each degree (roughly 4.5mm at the softest 12B down to about 2.0mm in the harder grades). Part of Staedtler's Mars line - a brand the company registered in 1900 - it is intended for sketching, shading, fine detail and technical drawing. This specimen: Mars Lumograph 100 in grade 10B.
