ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Mars Lumograph aquarell 100A is Staedtler's water-soluble version of its Lumograph graphite artist pencil, made in Germany with an approx. 3.6 mm soft graphite lead and offered in three soft grades (4B, 6B, 8B). Lines drawn dry can be blended with a wet brush to create watercolour-style washes, so it is used for preliminary sketches and classical watercolour drawing and sketching. The hexagonal pencil is break-resistant and has no eraser; sets are commonly supplied in a metal tin with a round watercolour brush.
