ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Staedtler Norica 132 is the German maker's value-tier wood-cased writing pencil, made in Thailand from FSC-certified wood and finished in a glossy blue lacquered hexagonal barrel. Marketed by Staedtler for writing, drawing and sketching, it is sold most commonly in HB (#2) but also in 2H and 2B, and uses a "super-bonded" break-resistant lead that reviewers note lays down an unusually dark, smooth line for an HB. The common modern version (article 132 46) is tipped with a white latex-free vinyl eraser in a metal ferrule, though plain non-eraser-tipped variants also exist.
