ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Edelweiss 341 is Caran d'Ache's everyday Swiss-made graphite pencil, sold in four grades - 2H, F, HB and 3B - each finished in a different lacquer colour (green, blue, red and grey respectively). The standard line has a hexagonal FSC-certified cedar barrel with no eraser and is marketed for writing and for artistic and technical drawing at school or the office; a Swiss/Scots pine ("Pin Sylvestre") version is also produced. Reviewers note its grades run roughly two steps harder than the equivalent grades from other brands (an Edelweiss HB writing closer to a 2H).
