HOUSE OF GRAPHITE

Derwent Academy Sketching is the budget, student-tier line of Derwent's graphite drawing pencils, offered in 12 grades from a soft 6B to a hard 5H. The pencils have slim (6.9 mm) hexagonal natural-wood barrels with quality graphite leads that are easy to sharpen and break-resistant; softer grades (B-6B) suit sketching and blending while harder grades (HB-5H) are better for line and detail work. They are sold individually (cartons of 6) and in tins or wallets of 6 or 12, aimed at beginners, students and occasional sketchers. This specimen: Academy Graphite Pencils in grade 4H.
