HOUSE OF GRAPHITE

The Toison d'Or 1900 (FA1900) is the professional artist graphite line of the Czech maker Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth, with a California cedar casing and a black hexagonal barrel. It is offered across 20 grades from 10H to 8B with no eraser, and is intended for drawing. The maker states the lead is extra-smooth and "doesn't scratch or snag, regardless of degree," though an independent review found some grittiness in the harder grades. This specimen: Toison d'Or 1900 in grade 7H.
