ARCHIVIST'S NOTES
The Lyra Ferby and its longer companion the Super Ferby are chunky, triangular, wood-cased graphite pencils with an extra-thick 10mm barrel and a break-resistant 6.25mm core, originally conceived as a child's first pencil and for young artists. The triangular profile and three grip points encourage a correct tripod grasp and suit both right- and left-handed users; the Ferby is about 12cm long and the Super Ferby about 17.5cm. Both are made in Germany and sold in HB and B grades, in lacquered and unlacquered (natural-wood) finishes, with a plain wood-sealed end rather than an eraser.
